Welcome to Hillcrest Animal Hospital! Here you'll find everything you need to know for your pet's first appointment with our Bartlett (Memphis) vets.
Your First Visit: What to Expect
Knowing what to expect and how to be prepared for your first visit to our veterinary hospital will make the process quicker and more pleasant for both you and your pet. During your first appointment, our team will get to know you and your pet, and we'll welcome you into the Hillcrest Animal Hospital family!
Step 1: Get Settled
Please arrive about 10 minutes early for your first appointment with us so that you can fill out a New Patient Form for your pet. If you'd like to save a bit of time, you can complete this form online.
Step 2: Meet Your Vet & Talk About Your Pet
After you and your pet have been introduced to your vet, we'll take you into an examination room where we'll review the history and habits of your pet and will discuss your goals for your pet's care. During this step, you can ask as may questions as you want... we'll take the time to answer.
Step 3: 'Nose to Tail' Exam
The next step in getting to know your pet is a full 'nose to tail' exam. Your vet will thoroughly examine your pet’s skin, coat, eyes, ears, mouth and nose, as well the legs, joints, abdomen and anal sac.
The vet will use a stethoscope to listen to your pet’s heart and lungs, and older pets may also have blood tests to check their kidneys, liver and other internal organs.
If your pet is due for any vaccinations or laboratory work, we will also take care of these needs during this appointment.
